| The department
of Lambayeque is located in the north western region
in Perú. With an extension of 13, 736 km² (5,303 sq
ml), it limits to the north with Piura, to the south
with La Libertad, to the east with Cajamarca, and to
the west with the Pacific Ocean.
Since only a small extension of its territory is in
the Sierra, it is considered one of the most typically
coastal place in Peru.
Chiclayo located a few miles from the sea and 509 Km
(315.5 miles) from the Ecuadorian border. Lima lies
770 Km (477 miles) to thbe south down the Pan American
highway. |

where the most beautiful pottery masterpieces
of the regional cultures are shown in a easy way
to understand.
Anyone of this dynasty for many generations. It
was believed that the Kings buried themselves
alive in this large barrows in order to keep the
leyend of theirs inmortality. So is that every
king built its "huaca" not for the funeral

grandson. The archaeolody revel as that the valley
was occupied by the Mochicas in a very early stage,
developing a complex culture based in the sea trade,
fishing and agriculture. Some jungle native products
have been found there, as well as a great number
of "llama" remains. The late stages reveal
a wide contact of this valley with the Chimu Kingdowm
of the Chan Chan, located 340 km (210.8 miles) soouth,
in Huaca Larga, there is a povisional exhibition
of the findings. |
